Privacy Policy

We keep this in plain English because you deserve to know exactly what we do with your data. The short version: we collect what we need to make the app work, and we don't sell it.

Last updated: July 10, 2026

Who we are

Fatto ("we," "us," "our") provides a cooking-coordination app that helps you plan and time multi-dish meals. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and what control you have over it. If you have questions, email hello@itsfatto.com.

What we collect

  • Account information — your name and email address when you create an account, and authentication data used to keep your account secure.
  • Content you create — recipes you add (by URL, photo, or typing), your kitchen profile, meals, and timelines.
  • Billing information — if you subscribe to Pro, our payment processor collects and stores your payment details. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Usage data — basic, privacy-respecting information about how the app is used, so we can fix bugs and improve features.
  • Technical data — device and browser information and IP address, used for security and to keep the service running.

How we use your data

  • To provide the core service: extracting recipes, building timelines, and running Cook Mode.
  • To manage your account, authenticate you, and process subscription payments.
  • To respond to your support requests.
  • To improve the product, diagnose problems, and keep the service secure.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use the content of your recipes to advertise to you.

Recipe import and AI processing

When you import a recipe from a URL or a photo, we use automated processing — including optical character recognition and AI language models — to extract the ingredients, steps, and timings. This processing exists solely to turn your recipe into a usable timeline. Imported images and text are used to provide that feature, not to train advertising profiles.

Who we share data with

We share data only with service providers who help us run Fatto, and only as much as they need:

  • Our payment processor, to handle subscriptions securely.
  • Our hosting and infrastructure providers, to store data and serve the app.
  • AI/processing providers, strictly to power recipe extraction.

We may also disclose data if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.

Cookies and tracking technologies

We take a deliberately privacy-first approach to analytics, and we want to be clear about it:

  • We use only essential cookies. The small number of cookies we set are strictly necessary to make the site work — for example, keeping you signed in and protecting forms against cross-site request forgery. These do not track you across other websites.
  • Our analytics are cookieless and anonymous. We use Fathom Analytics, a privacy-focused service that measures overall site usage without cookies, without collecting personal data, and without tracking or profiling individual visitors across the web. Fathom does not sell data and is designed to comply with GDPR, CCPA, and ePrivacy rules.
  • No advertising trackers. We do not use advertising pixels, third-party ad networks, social media tracking widgets, or "session replay" tools that record your activity.

Because we do not use non-essential or advertising cookies, a cookie-consent banner is not required for our analytics. If we ever introduce technologies that would require consent, we will ask for it first.

Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Because we do not track individuals across websites in the first place, our practices are consistent with honoring DNT regardless of the setting you choose.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data, except where we are required to retain certain records (for example, billing records for tax purposes).

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@itsfatto.com and we'll help. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request access to or deletion of that information, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information beyond what is needed to provide the service. To make a request, email hello@itsfatto.com. You may use an authorised agent to submit a request on your behalf.

Your rights in the EU/EEA and UK (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Our lawful bases for processing are: performance of a contract (to provide the service you sign up for), legitimate interests (to secure, maintain, and improve the service), consent (where we ask for it), and legal obligation (for example, retaining billing records). Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and secure authentication. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your information safe and to limit who can access it.

Children

Fatto is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.

Accessibility

We're committed to keeping this policy — and the rest of our site — accessible to everyone. See our Accessibility Statement for details, or tell us if anything is hard to read or use.
