Our story

We got tired of cold potatoes

Fatto began with a simple, maddening problem: you can follow every recipe perfectly and still serve dinner in cold, lukewarm waves. So we built the thing that fixes it — a timeline that coordinates every dish at once.

The problem nobody had solved

Recipes are great at telling you how to cook one thing. They're useless at telling you when to start it so it finishes at the same moment as everything else on the table. That gap — the coordination gap — is where dinner falls apart. The chicken runs long, the potatoes go cold waiting, the sauce gets forgotten, and you spend the evening stressed instead of seated.

Every home cook we talked to had their own version of the same story. Sticky notes covered in start times. A phone propped against the kettle with four recipe tabs open. A mental running clock that collapses the moment a guest asks a question. The skill wasn't the issue. The juggling was.

What we built instead

Fatto works backwards from the one number that actually matters: when you want to eat. You tell it what you're making and what your kitchen can do — how many burners, how many oven racks, how much hands-on time you've got — and it builds a single live timeline for the whole meal. Start the bird at 5:00. Potatoes join at 5:45. Gravy at 6:10. Everything hot at 6:30.

Run behind? Nudge the timeline and every downstream step recalculates instantly. No mental math, no waves, no cold potatoes. That's the whole promise: dinner, perfectly timed.

Coordination, not recipes

The world has enough recipes. We focus on the part recipes ignore — getting multiple dishes to finish together.

Built for real kitchens

Two burners and one oven, or a full setup — Fatto plans around your actual equipment and its limits.

Calm by design

Realistic buffers, clear next steps, and a plan that flexes when life happens. Cooking should feel good.

Who's behind Fatto

We're a small team of home cooks, recipe nerds, and timing obsessives. Between us we've burned the garlic, served the lukewarm risotto, and hosted the dinner party where the main course arrived forty minutes after the starter. Fatto is the tool we wished we'd had on every one of those nights.

Everything we publish on the blog comes from the same place: techniques we actually test on real weeknight dinners before we recommend them. When we explain how to time a holiday meal or keep side dishes warm, it's because we've stood in the kitchen and timed it. You can read exactly how we research and review on our editorial standards page.

How we make money

Fatto is free to start — genuinely useful on the free Starter plan for everyday two-dish dinners. We make money when ambitious cooks upgrade to Pro for unlimited recipes per meal and complex multi-dish planning. No ads, no selling your data, no dark patterns. If the free plan is all you ever need, that's a win for us too — you'll tell a friend.

Where we're going

The long-term goal is simple: make it impossible to serve a badly timed meal. Smarter recipe extraction, better equipment modelling, hands-free cooking on every device. If you've got a kitchen-timing horror story or an idea that would help, we genuinely want to hear it — get in touch.
